I've long had my eye on Heartwood Candle Co and Laura very kindly offered to send me one that had been on my wishlist a few months ago - Rosemary, Lemon & Frankincense*.
What I admire about Heartwood Candle Co is that you can really tell how passionate Laura and Dominique are about the whole process. You can read a brilliant interview with these two lovely ladies on Hephzibah's blog, Good for Me - Good for You here. My favourite part of the interview is a photo of Laura - you'll have to look for yourself to see why!
Heartwood Candle Co make candles using soy wax and essential oils. Soy is used as its renewable, sustainable and clean burning and essential oils are used so that you know exactly what you're breathing in, none of those nasty artificial fragrances here, thank you very much.
They aren't just about making beautiful candles, oh no. They donate 10% of their profits to the Woodland Trust to support the woodlands from which the name of the company was born - Heartwood Forest.
I had picked the Rosemary, Lemon & Frankincense candle as I wanted something uplifting and energising. I often use a hot stone to burn essential oils and lemon is one of my favourites to use as it just cleanses and really brightens my mood. I also picked this as I thought it would be great to use while camping to repel insects in the evening.
The candle came wrapped in recycled, acid free paper with a bow and an amazing card which had this wonderful poem on it:
It's often when you've much to do, you feel so very tired,
But these Energisers will pull you through,
and soon you'll feel inspired.
Rosemary will urge you on long both day or night,
Lemon will keep you strong, as fatigue you boldly fight.
Frankincense will help you focus, so you'll do your best;
Your work then done , you will have won!
(......and now it's time to rest.)
I love touches like this, this is what really makes a brand stand out to me. The thought and detail behind it just goes to show how passionate Laura and Dominique are about what they do, that it's not just a business to them but a real, dare I say, obsession. That's no bad thing in my book!
The candle is as lovely as I had hoped and I find that while burning it, I can pick up different scents depending on what I feel like at the time. The rosemary is brilliant for when I need a mental kick up the bum, the lemon comes through when I'm feeling lethargic and the frankincense just subtly keeps me going.
I'll stop with the gushing now and end this post. I highly recommend Heartwood Candles to anyone, they have a great selection of scents for different occasions and I can't wait to see what they bring out for Autumn/Winter.
Please do have a look at the range over on the website, Heartwood Candle Co. Prices range from £15-£22 depending on the scents.
*Candle was generously sent to me and I've reviewed it because I just adored it.
Are the heartwood candles available to purchase online and can they be delivered worldwide, as gift or something?
