My review this month for the online natural beauty shop MyPure, is the BalanceMe BB Natural Perfection with SF25 cream with a colour tint*.
I first
came across this in April while I was looking for a natural BB cream.
I wanted a facial SPF as I was going away on holiday but I also
wanted a bit of coverage so I didn't look like death in all the
photos! It was a toss up between this one from Balance Me or the BB
cream from REN. At the time, there were lots of reviews about the REN
version but not so many about the Balance Me one so I went with REN.
I knew I
wanted to try the Balance Me one so promised that I'd try it once I
was coming to the end of my REN.
The idea
behind BB creams is that they act as a sort of all over light
concealer/foundation in that they smooth away imperfections, address
uneven skin tone and give a bit of “my skin but better” glow to
it. Some have the added bonus of an added SPF in which to me is an
essential these days. What makes this one from Balance Me stand out is that it has an SFP of 25. Other BB creams on the market range from
10 upwards but I was looking for as high as I could get in this form.
Balance Me
use “an
innovative natural titanium dioxide-based sun filter to block out
both UVA and UVB rays”.
I'm not
quite sure what is so innovative about this as most natural SPF sun
blocks are made from a combination of zinc and/or titanium dioxide
but I'm not a scientist so maybe I'm missing something .. you know...
sciency about it all. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact
that they have picked the other ingredients in the formula to enhance
the activity of the SPF?
I've found
the cream to be lighter and more liquidy that I would have thought
and which took a bit of getting used to. I apply onto my fingers,
then apply to my cheeks, forehead and chin before smoothing upwards
to cover the rest of my face. I find I have to work quickly to get it
blended before it dries but it's not problem. It smells a bit, you
know, mineraly thanks to the ingredients but its gone quickly so
again, no problem. The cream leaves my skin with a dewy finish, which
may not be for everyone if you prefer a matt finish. I don't mind
this during the summer though as I feel it makes me glow.
The
coverage isn't as much as I had hoped. I think that maybe my skin is
a shade too dark for it at the moment to be effective in this way. It
doesn't look pale on my skin though so I use it more for it's SPF
properties. When I go out out, I still apply a layer of foundation to
give me that flawless finish which I didn't feel I had to with the
REN. I think that this is a BB cream for Winter, when my skin has
lost it's tan and then I feel it would preform better for me.
You can
buy Balance Me BB Natural Perfection with SPF25 for £26 from MyPure.
Have you
tried this? How did you get on with it?
I have always wondered whether there would be much difference between this and Ren's. I think this shade might work for me as I am always on the pale side x
ReplyDeleteIt should work well for you then :) x
DeleteI have been waiting for someone I trust to review this, it does like nice I have the REN one and it is coming to an end so may get this for winter and pair it with RMS un-coverup :) Xx
ReplyDeleteYes! That would work really well :D Deffo one for winter months for me x
DeleteGreat review....I almost bought this one a while ago but then changed my mind thinking it may be not matte enough...x
ReplyDeleteI umh-ed and ahh-ed about the finish as I was worried it would just make my skin look extra oily however I think it looks good on x
DeleteI haven't tried either but I do like Madara's tinting fluid! x
ReplyDeleteI'd had a nosey at the Madara one but am I right in thinking that it doesn't have an SPF? x
DeleteHaha not sure about the sciency bit either! I haven't tried anything from Balance Me except a small tube of exfoliator. I'm currently using a great tint from Living Nature, mixed with my Dr Hauschka - but neither have SPF so I'm still on the hunt! Might have to check this one out. :) Thanks for the review! x
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to using it once my skin has lost a bit of tan as I think it'll smooth my skin out a bit more. I think my next BB purchase will be the Andalou one that Katie Vibes loves. xx
DeleteI really favour BB/CC creams for the Summer months, and although Summer seems to have disappeared this is really catching my eye! Thanks for the review xx
