Review: Green People Cell Enrich Facial Oil

At the end of July, the lovely folks over at Green People asked me if I would like to try out their award winning (Gold award winner in the Best Oils & Serums category in the Free From Awards, dontcha know!) Age Defy+ Cell Enrich Facial Oil*.

The key ingredients in the oil include Blackcurrant, Perilla, Evening Primrose and Rosehip. The list doesn't stop there though, oh no my friends- there are some 20 actives enriched in the oil to restore skin elasticity, promote cell regeneration and to soften and hydrate.

The oil is pale gold and I would call it a fairly dry oil, in that you need to be quick applying it to the face before it fully absorbs. I wouldn't say it has a particular scent of anything but that it smells outdoorsy and very natural.

Now I like to test my products for a good 4-6 weeks before I write a review (depending on the product/size of course). I feel that this gives my skin a chance to accept the change in its routine and to really see if there have been any improvements.
I've been using three pumps of the oil on my face, neck and décolletage before moisturising and after toning in both the morning and evening - using the advised technique of gentle tapping motions where my danger zones are. I sometimes mix the oil in with my moisturiser if I'm feeling a bit lazy which creates a lovely silky cream.

Results? I can see an improvement to the texture across my forehead (danger, danger) so I'm happy. What it doesn't do for me though is work on my occasional breakouts or my mid-day oil slick which my beloved Bodhi & Birch Neroli Lucé oil does do. I'm having to use concealer to cover-up and blotting papers most days.
On the one hand, it's reducing the appearance of wrinkles which is great as I'm mega paranoid about them but the pay off seems to be oilier skin and breakouts. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd use this again as I'd rather have clear, wrinkly skin than smooth, oily skin.

After 6 weeks use morning and evening, the bottle still has about two thirds left so I'd say it was pretty great value for money - £29.95 for 30ml. I'll continue to use this as I hate to waste but I won't be buying it in the future.

Have you used this oil before?

  1. Nice review!
I have a couple of face oils to finish, but this one looks nice. I rarely wear face oil during the day as I often find it quite heavy under the make-up. Same here as well, I rarely waste any products and often do my reviews once I am almost done with the product. x

    1. I find doing it that way stops me from hauling loads of the same product, like I used to. Much better at one in/one out now than I used to be! x

  2. I always compare the oils I use to my beloved Neroli Luce as nothing can beat it at the minute hah! Great review x

    1. I don't want to say it's a shame that nothing matches the power of Neroli Luce but, well, I just haven't found it yet! xx

  3. Shame it doesn't quite work for you. Maybe you might have better results in Winter x

    1. That's a good idea - I might put using it on hold for a couple of months and start again in November. Good thinking Karen! x

  5. Oils/serums are all about finding the right ingredients for you and clearly this one just isn't quite right, I get that sometimes with products, on paper it sounds awesome but it just doesn't quite work. Green People is a great brand and I love their free from ethos
