Review: Weleda Arnica Bath Soak & Calendula Massage Oil

A little while ago, I was asked if I'd like to try out Weleda's Calendula Massage Oil* as it's great for easing tense and aching muscles. I mentioned that I am a firm devotee of the Weleda Arnica Oil and was generously sent the brand new Arnica Muscle Soak* too.

Let me start off by explaining why I swear by Arnica Oil.
I play Roller Derby. This might mean something to a few of my readers but for those of you thinking "what, like roller disco?"then NO - let me enlighten you.
Roller Derby is a full contact sport involving speed skating and a LOT of falling (being knocked, viciously) to the ground.
Its fast, its brutal and its brilliant.
After every session, I slather arnica oil over my legs, arms and back or anywhere where I've had a particularly bad hit to ward off bruising and ease any pain.
You can see why these two products would appeal to me now, huh?!

I was really excited (is that sad?) to try these out. I got back from training the first week after receiving them and ran a bath, adding 3 capfuls of of the Arnica Muscle Soak into running water and slid into the hot water with an "ahhhhhhhh".
It seriously smells amazing - arnica, rosemary, silver birch and lavender create a truly aromatic scent that has you saying goodbye to tiredness and fatigue. The soak turns the water a milky colour thanks to sunflower and olive oil but without that weird slippy residue being left into the tub after draining the water away.
Afterwards, I feel relaxed and ready for bed!

Before that happens though, I've been following my bath up with a massage with the Calendula Massage Oil to really give my muscles a further chance to relax and prevent any stiffness the following day. I usually spend about 5 mins or so working it into my legs especially as they do most of the hard work, and can just feel any residual tension melt away.
This has actually become my day to day moisturiser in the mornings, I love it so much. The oil is lightly scented with lavender which gives me a clear head to start the day and thanks to birch leaf extract, is naturally toning.

This duo have done wonders to my poor, battered body and I'll be using them both for a long time!

If you play sports, spend a lot of time in your garden or simply get aches and pain I highly recommend both! I've heard that the Strictly Come Dancing team are super fans too and you know, if its good enough for them...
You can get the Arnica Muscle Soak here for £12.95 or the Weleda's Calendula Massage Oil here for £9.95.
