Disappointing Products - A'Kin

These three products were in my stocking from Father Christmas this year and I was so happy to see them as I had been keen to try more from A'Kin.

I've been using all three on and off since January as I haven't been really impressed with them. I didn't think they were bad products, they just didn't work for me the way I thought they would.

The Orange Blossom Body Wash RRP £14 for 200ml was just meh. I was expecting a beautifully scented shower gel, one that would lift my mood and refresh my skin thanks to the orange blossom but it wasn't. I would go as far as to say that it smelt unscented!
The product description says "The fresh delicate, sweet essence of Orange Blossoms are prized for brightening the spirit and calming the skin. It's light citrus floral fragrance combined with the gentlest and purest botanical cleansers ensures your skin and mind will be refreshed."
Maybe I got one from a duff batch but I won't be buying this again.

I really wanted to like the Lavender & Geranium Body Moisturiser RRP £14 for 200ml. Lavender is one of my favourite scents and paired with soothing geranium, I thought this would be a winner.
I found the cream to be too thick, it left my skin chalky white and it didn't feel moisturised at all. It took a long time to massage the moisturiser into my skin and get rid of the chalky-ness. Again, the scent was barely there. I've been determined to use it up though (by mixing it with a bit of coconut oil) and I think I'm almost there. Another one not going on back on the wishlist.

Have you been disappointed by any products lately?

  1. What a pity Jen! Smell counts a lot for me as well. I have never tried this brand....There was a reason for that but can't recall it now.

    1. I'm not sure I would try anything else from them as the ingredients list of the products are pretty long and not as clean as I first thought x

  2. Such a shame they didn't work. That's so strange with the body wash because I tried it about a year ago and remember loving the citrus scent - maybe they changed the formula? x

    1. The citrus-y scent was what I was hoping for but nadda. I couldn't find the exact shower gel for my link so they must have updated their packaging recently too x

  3. oh what a shame! I've used their toner, and I find it lovely. I haven't tried any other products from them though, so I don't know how they fare. Thanks for sharing xx

    1. I've eyed up the toner in the past; they do a 3-in-1 cleanser too I think? x

  5. Akin was one of the first brands I turned to when I began my green journey, I found their products a bit hit and miss. I will say that I didn't find the fragrances very strong which is a good thing in some ways for me but I can understand why that would cause disappointment for you.
